In the update of the MSD v1.22.1, there are 5 more special missions added: 96th to 100th
The things that attract our attention, are the new unit 'SOL DAE ROKKER' in the shop, and the special 100th mission.
This post, however, is about the special mission 100th.
In fact, at first sight, the 100th mission is indeed a challenging one. The developer purposely adds a number of troops in the deck (including the Donald Morden and the Sol Dae Rokker). However, they are playing no roles in this mission!
Indeed, this 100th mission is a one man show. Our main character - ALLEN O'NEIL!
Correct, just summon Allen O'Neil as many as you can, and as fast as you can. The enemy boss could be defeated easily.
Perhaps this is the mission that the developers would like to convey a message that, Allen O'Neil is something not to be belittled. He has quite a sustainable Hit Points. During the battle, his special skill 'grenade throwing' causes a significant damage to the boss. That explains why he stands out in this mission.
With this understanding, you won't spend too much time failing again. Good luck and earn another 15 Medals!

Metal Slug Defense V1.18.0 - How to beat the New Mission 78?
One of the most eye-catching updates of the Metal Slug Defense V1.18.0 is the introduction of 3 more KOF units - IORI, MATURE and VICE.
Now, how powerful are those trio? The good thing is, in the New Missions (78th and 79th) added, we have the answer.
In the Mission 78th, the goal is to defeat these 3 units with the Kyo, Benimaru and Goro. Obviously, our units are relatively weaker as there is IORI at the opposite! This mission is really giving me some tough time. After trials and errors, I have finally come out with a better approach.
First, wait until the AP collected is sufficient to summon 2 units (at about 300 AP). Here, i prefer Kyo and Goro first. Then, Benimaru is the last.
Note, activating the skills of the trio is the critical part, especially the Kyo! His skill takes a few buffer so it is better to summon him first while letting the others defend.
Finally, you will notice that our units are defeated, and the enemy left is the IORI. Now, before he finishes our portal, make sure you summon the Benimaru ASAP to beat IORI! At the end of the battle, your portal is probably having the HP lesser than half.
So far this works for me. And again and again, i am really impressed by this update. Hopefully SNK will continue to add more KOF members into the MSD!
Metal Slug Defense V1.18.0 - More KOF (King Of Fighters) members are joining!
Ok. Make sure you have the latest version of the Metal Slug Defense: V.1.18.0 at the time of writing. And not to confuse, this post is still about the MSD. Now, KOF (King of Fighters) is being integrated into the MSD!
In the MSD V1.17.0, three KOF members are added - Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru Nikaido, Goro Daimon. At that time, I was paying much attention as I not only do not 'afford' them (300 Medals each), they do not seem to really play a critical in the Wi-Fi VS Mode.
However, this time, in the V1.18.0, three more are added - IORI Yagami, Mature and Vice. The good news is, there are new missions to justify their powers! (New Mission 78th and 79th).
Particularly, the IORI Yagami is capturing my attention the most. The New Mission 78th has consumed quite several attempts before i am able to complete that. IORI Yagami seems to have the highest HP of the trio. His movement speed is superb. That would be helpful especially during a match when the distance between portals is short.

Metal Slug Defense V1.15: Air Units are awesome!
I have to make sure my post is talking about the latest Metal Slug Defense at the time of writing - V1.15
From time to time, the Metal Slug Defense rolls out new units. It has been a hot topic about 'which unit is the strongest' in this game. For sure, not only the strength or attack power, the 'Cost effectiveness' is critical too.
Undoubtedly, the land unit like Leona, Morden Robot, Jupiter King, etc are the most voted units. They have been proved efficient and powerful during a 1 vs 1.
However, in this post, particularly, i would like to talk about the Air Units (eg: R.R-Shobu, Samurai Plane, Slug Copter, Flying Tara, Hover Units). Not all of them are free, but it is worth mentioning that some of them are special during the battles.
The one capturing my eyes the most, is the R.R-Shobu, the red air fighter. Why?
First, Air units are generally 'overlooked' by the AI. Often, if you only summon air units, the enemies are unaware of your troops, and thus, they don't attack you! One of the great examples is the 'Big Shiee' from China. Remember the last post on the China? The fact that the Flying Tara is able to strike the Big Shiee so effectively is mainly due to the fact that the latter doesn't detect it in the radar at all!
Second, the R.R-Shobu is one of the few air units having the special skill. By default, the R.R-Shobu launches a few missiles while regressing (to avoid enemies' attack). Then, he will launch a final bombing to the enemies after finishing the missiles.
Now, the thing is, the special skill of the R.R-Shobu is able to 'Reload' the ammunition! Meaning, if you activate the skill of R.R-Shobu at the correct timing (just after he has finished the bombing), he is able to re-launch the missiles and the bombing.
With this skill, the power of R.R-Shobu doubles! Together with the first advantage, it is to say that, the enemies are being bombarded with attacks without a counter-strike!
I have made several experiments. Air Units alone are sufficient to handle most of the stages, including those from the latest and more difficult maps!
The only prerequisite is the AP costs. Once you have upgraded the necessary HOME units (and rescue POWs accordingly), you will definitely be able to unleash the awesomeness of the air units in the Metal Slug Defense!

Metal Slug Defense V1.15.0 - New Areas and New Missions

New Areas in the 5th Map
After the Hong Kong and Canada Northern, two more regions are added - Egypt and Iran. As usual, I still find them easy to beat :)
New Missions
5 more missions added, 61st to 70th. Interestingly, Leona shows up twice out of 5 New Missions here. So don't overlook this special unit. It has been mentioned again and again. Activating her special skill at the critical timing is just super awesome.
One interesting thing to mention, in the Wi-Fi Versus mode, there is a shortcut button to choose your default game mode. With that, you can skip those tedious steps to join the game.
Last but not least, there is a big sale on the Medals (Up to 70% if not mistaken).
